The SportDOG No Bark 10R will never mistake anything for your dog's bark except, well, your dog's bark. The patented design requires both the sound of your dog's bark and the tangible vibration from the bark to occur at the same time before it corrects your dog. Every other anti-bark system available triggers off one or the other, but not both.... More >>

I bought this unit a few months ago for my stubborn Welsh Corgi, who loves to bark for no reason. I tried it for short periods of time at first, and then left it on for longer. Although the manufacturer says to take the collar off at night, I left it on her by mistake for 2 days. when I went to trim her neck hair, thinking the electrodes weren’t making contact with her skin, I discovered two infected holes in her neck where the electrodes had dug in.
My vet is sure that even though we left the collar on for two days, the cause of the injury was too high of a voltage being delivered. There were no burn marks on her skin, just two fleshy, infected holes in her neck. I didn’t change any setting on this unit when I got it, so I sent the unit back to the manufacturer for a refund and reimbursement for my vet visit. They are offering to exchange the collar for another unit, which is nice, but they won’t pay for my vet bill because I left the collar on for a longer than recommended time. SO MAD!!! I even checked the collar to see if I could fit my fingers between the electrodes and her neck and I could. I’m exchanging this unit for the SportDog NoBark 18 Deluxe, so we’ll see if that causes any more pain for my dog.
I relied on the numerous good ratings on Amazon and I was let down big time.

Being rechargeable is great. The collar does what it is suppose to do without hurting our Redbone coonhound.

I was concerned that this collar would not fit my dog since my dog is only 8 pounds and a non-stop barker but it fit fine. There was a lot of extra collar since it is designed for dogs of all sizes but I just cut off the extra with scissors making sure to not cut it too short. I made sure that it was not too tight since I could see that being an easy mistake to make. The key is to make sure that it is not so tight the the prongs are digging in but not too loose that you are not making a good connection, the manual recommends that you can fit your finger between the prong and the dogs neck and that’s what I tried to do.
The first time I used this on my dog I was a little worried that it would hurt my dog. He let out a few barks and then a wimper which I knew meant that the collar was working. I was surprised at how quickly it worked. It should be noted that the barking only stops when the collar is on and the collar should never be used continuously for long periods of time according to the manual.
Overall I am very happy with this collar but it is important to realize that it will reduce not eliminate your dogs barking. If you don’t want any barking at all you should consider getting a cat.

This barking has been a godsend. We use it interchangeably between two of our dogs and when the barking collar goes on they instantly get the message from the first experience they had with it when they initially had the “shocking” experience. It is rechargable which is the big seller, because I wasn not about to bu a barking collar and then start buying batteries from the same company that makes the collar.(not OTC batteries). This is not fair to the consumer. A mfg sould make a product that is either rechargable or uses standard batteries but to have a product that uses their batteries (that do not recharge) is somewhat greedy. I commend the mfg of the collar for thinking of the consumer. Again, the dog gets the message and does not bark with this baby on if they are smart…

We’ve had another type of bark collar in the past that recently went bad. After having spent more on batteries for that bark collar, I was pleased to stumble upon this one with rechargeable batteries. I swear we have the most stubborn 100+ lb black lab who barks at EVERYTHING!! This bark collar has saved our sanity and our reputation in the neighborhood. I hope it lasts long term, but for now it works great.
